Huacaran National Park.
Wednesday July 10, 2019 – “Huascaran Project” will be held until August 17, scientific and climatic research in the Huascaran National Park located in Ancash, Peru.
This research has first objective the extraction of ice samples that will allow to find out the behavior of events like El Niño and climate change in the last 20,000 years. These samples will be taken for analysis at the Ohio State University in the USA. Peru will send a scientist to participate in the analysis process.
This important expedition is led by the National Institute of Glacier Research and Mountain Ecosystems (Inaigem), with the valuable collaboration of Ohio State University and the renowned glaciologist and paleoclimatologist Lonnie Thompson.
